Many couples contemplating entering into a marriage or alternative living arrangement either wish to, or need to, protect assets for children or other family members whose needs arose prior to the present situation. In these situations a pre-nuptial agreement may be called for. Assets being brought into a new arrangement from a prior one may be protected and their availability to meet pre-existing needs may be ensured by planning ahead. Consulting with your attorney will help you to clarify the circumstances under which a premarital agreement is recommended or necessary. Failure to plan ahead could cause problems many years later should something unforeseen happen. |
